Samantha’s Timeless Classic

Samantha says: A timeless classic, this song speaks to the mission of Fred Rogers, who once said, “As human beings, our job in life is to help people realize how rare and valuable each one of us really is, that each of us has something that no one else has—or ever will have—something inside that is unique to all time. It’s our job to encourage each other to discover that uniqueness and to provide ways of developing its expression.”

Fred Rogers believed that anyone who found success in anything did so because someone believed in them at one point or another. He said, “We just don’t get to be competent human beings without a lot of different investments from others.” As Child Development professionals we need to realize the impact of our investments. It’s so important for us to instill in young children that they are important, highly valued, and loved just as they are.

  1. Mr. Rogers is one of my idols. He was amazing. After watching this, I had to look at the interview with him as an adult. Very cool to hear how he felt about the episode.

Me too! Fred Rogers is a hero to me. My son and I just watched an hour long special called, “What is Love?” He is so amazing in so many ways (including his music and puppetry skills). Did you know he always said when he fed the fish everyday because a little boy who was blind wrote him a letter? Too cool…I have this quote on one of my folders…

“When I say it’s you I like, I’m talking about that part of you that knows that life is far more than anything you can ever see or hear or touch. That deep part of you that allows you to stand for those things without which humankind cannot survive. Love that conquers hate, peace that rises triumphant over war, and justice that proves more powerful than greed.”

Thank you for posting this…now I’m re-thinking my Muppets post…
